Michael Waltz has a unique perspective on our occupation of Afghanistan. He was a Lt. Col. in the Army, and was tasked with the objective of winning the trust of Afghan tribal leaders. In doing so, he learned about conflicts that were hundreds of years old and the traditions that served as the guideposts for a way of life. In his book, 'Warrior Diplomat,' Michael talks about American objectives there and how we were shortsighted, and how having the world's greatest army is not always an advantage.
